This protocol anomaly is a DHCP message that has an invalid message type. RFC-2131 specifies message types 1 through 9.
If the octet reserved for the DHCP message type indicator contains a value that exceeds 9, this constitutes a protocol anomaly. The condition may indicate a network configuration error. It could also indicate that a malicious activity, possibly involving the injection of malformed DHCP packets, is underway.
