This signature detects attempts against a known flaw in Microsoft SharePoint Server. The scriptresx.ashx file is vulnerable to a Cross Site Scripting (XSS) attack which could allow an authenticated attacker to execute commands as an authorized administrator.
Microsoft SharePoint is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input. An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may allow the attacker to perform unauthorized actions such as reading, modifying, or deleting content on behalf of the victim on the SharePoint site.
