This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in Joomla's JCE component. It is due to insufficient validation of Itemid parameter of the index.php script. An attacker can exploit this issue by manipulating the SQL query logic to carry out unauthorized actions on the underlying database.
The JCE component for Joomla! is prone to an SQL-injection vulnerability because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied data before using it in an SQL query. Exploiting this issue could allow an attacker to compromise the application, access or modify data, or exploit latent vulnerabilities in the underlying database. UPDATE (Apr 13, 2011): This issue is being refuted; the 'Itemid' parameter is sanitized and not exploitable as described.
