This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in Symantec IM Manager. It is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. An attacker can exploit this issue by manipulating the SQL query logic to carry out unauthorized actions on the underlying database.
Symantec IM Manager is prone to multiple SQL-injection vulnerabilities because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied data before using it in an SQL query. A successful exploit can allow an attacker to compromise the application, access or modify data, or exploit latent vulnerabilities in the underlying database. Symantec IM Manager versions 8.4.15 and prior are vulnerable.
