This signature detects attempts to add a user into an Oracle table. Attackers can exploit a buffer overflow or a SQL injection vulnerabilty to add users with administrator privileges into an Oracle database. It could also be a false positive. To reduce False Positives, it is strongly recommended that these signatures only be used to inspect traffic from the Internet to your organization's web servers that use SQL backend databases to generate content and not to inspect traffic going from your organization to the Internet.
If an attacker successfully executes a net user /add instruction by exploiting a buffer overflow or other vulnerability, the attacker may add operating system user accounts at will. The new account can be assigned administrative privileges and used by the attacker to further penetrate the targeted network.
