This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls in Ask.com Toolbar. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
AskJeeves Toolbar Settings Plugin ActiveX control is prone to a remote heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it to an insufficiently sized buffer. Successfully exploiting this issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application using the ActiveX control (typically Internet Explorer). Failed exploit attempts likely result in denial-of-service conditions.
