This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability against Internet Explorer. Attackers can submit an HTTP Web page that contains multiple malicious ActiveX controls. A successful attack can lead to arbitrary remote code execution.
ActiveX controls present a high risk of system compromise. If an attacker convinces a user to execute a malicious ActiveX control, the code module can perform any desired functions with the current user's account privileges. In addition, by installing a specially-crafted Trojan horse program using an ActiveX dropper, an attacker may seize full control of the targeted host.
