This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability against Microsoft Windows DNS service. A successful attack can result in a denial-of-service condition.

Extended Description

The Microsoft Windows DNS Server is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this issue to cause the DNS server service to stop responding, denying service to legitimate users.
