DNS: Microsoft Windows DNS Server Spoofing


This signature detects attempts to exploit a known flaw in Microsoft DNS servers. A successful attack can lead to the attacker can manipulate cache data, potentially facilitating man-in-the-middle, site-impersonation, or denial-of-service attacks.

Extended Description

Microsoft Windows DNS Server is prone to a vulnerability that permits an attacker to spoof responses to DNS requests. A successful attack will corrupt the DNS cache with attacker-specified content. This may aid in further attacks such as phishing.
