This signature detects attempts to exploit a known cross-site scripting vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint Server. It is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. Attackers can steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.
Microsoft SharePoint is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input. An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may allow the attacker to perform unauthorized actions such as issuing SharePoint commands on the SharePoint site on behalf of the victim.
